Email Setup
This page discusses the setup process for Email Hosting
with POP3 and IMAP. We work directly with each client to setup each
new mail account so that it works perfectly. The email setup
process involves three steps:
- Pointing the Internet to the new MX records that tell
the world which email servers to use.
- Choosing the type of servers to use such as POP3
and IMAP, their names and port numbers.
- Using the Auto-Setup Tool or
step-by-step instructions to setup any email client.
Please contact
us for assistance in walking you though these steps.
 |
Step 1 - Changing the MX Records (View
Guide)
IF YOU ARE MANAGING YOUR MX RECORDS: Contact your DNS hosting company and ask them to change your MX
Records according to these specifications. Or, if you have access to
your DNS hosting company’s control panel for your domain, you can
make this change yourself.
The MX Records for your domain name must point to:
mx1.emailsrvr.com (pref 10)
mx2.emailsrvr.com (pref 20)
DO NOT DO THIS UNTIL INSTRUCTED

Outgoing servers require authentication.
Outlook users will need
to manually enable this feature. Follow the Setup Guides, below, to
configure your specific email client for your account.
When entering your Username, please enter your entire email address
(e.g., myname@mydomain.com). Also, please use all lower-case
letters.
New Password Rules
We have implemented these changes in an effort to eliminate
unauthorized users from using email accounts. Without enforcing
these new requirements, it can be simple for spammers to hack an
account and send spam from your address. Passwords
cannot contain:
- Less than 6 characters.
- 3 or more consecutive numerals. (e.g. 567, 9876)
- The word "password".
- The mailbox user name.
- The mailbox domain name.
