Marketing with Social Networks

Social Networks are communities. In any community you need to be a good neighbor in order to earn a following. Communities work best when there is common ground and a common cause. It could be a group of aircraft pilots, accountants, wine makers, or surfers (the water type).

To market in these communities you need to go out and join them, participate in them and give. You will need to give your opinion, you will need to give recommendations, you will need to give support to others based on your experience. As they say, you have to GIVE to GET, and this is true for social network marketing.

Many of these networks inter-connect with RSS feeds from blogs. This means that what you are blogging can reappear inside some of these communities. Each of these communities has "neighborhoods" so not only do you need to join the network, but find your place within that network.
